The South Wolverhamtpon & Bilston Academy
Important Announcements:

Wednesday 14th February our KS5 BTEC Level 3 Engineering students visited Royal Air Force Cosford as part of their employer engagement for careers familiarisation.

The purpose of the visit was to look at a careers familiarisation into Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical and Weapons engineering. Students visited a simulated squadron to look at all aspects of flight safety and preparation for flight checks. They proved their hand skills ability taught here at the academy in Mechanical Hand Skills by carrying out technician level parts of the course. They then visited the respective engineering disciplines where they got the chance experience 'the day in the life of a Royal Air Force engineer'. They also had the amazing and unique experience to view close up and sit in Jaguar, Wessex and Tornado aircraft.

Every student was absolutely thrilled and could not stop talking about their positive experiences of the day during their trip home. It has definitely confirmed their chosen engineering career pathway. Feedback form the project officer at RAF Cosford was amazing with a quote of "they were the best and by far the politest group of students they had ever had'! A very proud moment for the technology team here at the academy.
